A 12-Year-Old Spear Kid Is Already Providing Food For The Family During The Pandemic

Every family is striving to survive during these trying times. What we called “the new normal” brings about changes to the lives of people and we cannot neglect the fact that there are few individual families who were not able to adopt the “new normal”. The government cannot sustain all of the family’s needs including shelter and our everyday food nevertheless we cannot depend on them forever. During these times we only have ourselves, our creativity and perseverance are the ones we can rely on.

It is inspiring to witness young children use their talents to help provide food for their families even at a young age. When other children demand their parents to give them what they want and spend most of their time playing games and the like, there are children who persevere and make a living for his family.

The 12-year-old boy from Tingloy island is one of the inspiring children who spends his time providing food for the family during the lock-down period. This 12-year-old boy has learned to spear fishes at a young age and has been spending most of his time at the sea learning to fish and free diving. Seas are risky and dangerous at times but the 12-year-old bot from Tingloy island did not mind the danger he will be going through instead he spends time practicing to help his parents provide the needs of his family during the lock-down. He has been bringing food to the table ever since he had learned to spearfish especially now that the world is facing fatal problems. His parents are so proud and thankful for his hard work even though he is young and should be enjoying his childhood.

It is overwhelming to see other children growing into such a good person and is fully aware of how hard life is and is taken a big responsibility as part of the family. Parents should be the role model of the children in shaping them into a better person when they grow up and children should be open to learning how their parents taught them. Let us take this as an inspiration to not let being poor a hindrance to give up life. Let us continue to strive to make a living in this affliction.
